Dr. Charles J.J. Jackson, III a soul stirring, impactful and passionate preacher and teacher was born on August 9, 1967 to the late Rev. Dr. Charles and Alease Jackson. A native of Chesterfield County, Virginia, Dr. Jackson is the youngest of seven children and accepted Christ at the age of five.

An advocate for higher education Dr. Jackson received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Theology degrees from the Richmond Virginia Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. In May 2000, he received his Master of Divinity from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. In May 2006 he graduated from Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, South Carolina with a Doctoral degree in Ministry.

Dr. Jackson was called into the gospel ministry at 19. On August 13, 1987, at 20 years of age he preached his initial sermon. On September 6, 1989, he was ordained at the age of 22. Dr. Jackson served as an associate minister under his father’s pastoral leadership at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, and the Cedar Street Baptist Church until he was installed at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lanexa, Virginia on December 1, 1991. At Ebenezer, Dr. Jackson served until February of 1995. His ministry works and pastoral leadership continued where in May of 1995 Dr. Jackson was installed as pastor of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Richmond Virginia; and then in October 2000, Dr. Jackson was welcomed as the new pastor of the Cornerstone Baptist Church Inc. in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Since undertaking the Pastorate, Cornerstone has expanded in number and in ministry. To accommodate the overwhelming growth of the membership, the church purchased sixty-three acres of land, and to the glory of God on March 17, 2013 Dr. Jackson led his congregation into a new 1,800 seat, $5 million worship campus and facility. The church has also grown to over 50 internal ministries to serve the congregation and the Spartanburg community. The Lord has used Dr. Jackson to train ministers in preaching the gospel and serving the congregation and presently he is honored to teach and train over sixty Elders, licensed ministers and ministers in training at Cornerstone.

Dr. Jackson is a prolific and well-respected author. In 2010 he published his first book Outreach Theology: Transitioning the Traditional Church, which provides biblical application to connect community and church. He is co-founder of Joy and Strength Ministries, and Charles Jackson Ministries, LLC. He is also the founder of Calvary Fellowship Ministries where he mentors, trains, and guides pastors and church leaders. He is highly desirable in the training arena for his direct and energetic method of delivery and life-changing style of teaching and preaching.

In April of 2011 Dr. Jackson was consecrated as Bishop by his fathers in the gospel ministry the late Apostle Floyd E. Nelson, Sr and presiding prelate of International Bible Way Church of Jesus Christ, Inc. Apostle Willie E. Rookard. Dr. Jackson was recently appointed to serve as Bishop over the presbytery of International Bible Way.

A proponent of the faith community’s presence in the community In the community Dr. Jackson is a member of the Epsilon Nu chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (Fall, 2013) He is also one of the chaplains for the City of Spartanburg Police Department.

Dr. Jackson is a dedicated and devoted family man. He is married to the former Alaine Charlene Harris of Glen Allen, Virginia, and they are blessed with three children Minister Aleasha Jackson, Minister Charles Jalan Emmanuel (Akia) Jackson, Minister Alexis Helene Jackson, and one grandson Charles Jerome Elisha Jackson also known as “J5”.
